Visit some attractions in the neighbourhood

Żywiec region is unique – both in cultural and touristic way.

Żywiec region is unique – both in cultural and touristic way. Skiing and hiking facilities are just to mention, but there are much more attractions. So why is it worth to visit this southern region of Poland? There are many reasons – a good starting point are eco clay and straw houses in a vineyard in Radziechowy.

Nature…

Żywiec is located in a valley and is close to many recognisable peaks, such as Barania Mountain, Skrzyczne – a perfect viewpoint, Pilsko... There are even 3 landscape parks:

  • Żywiec Landscape Park
  • Silesian Beskids Landscape Park
  • Mały Beskids Landscape Park with endemic species characteristic for old Carpathian forest.

Żywiec Beskids is really beautiful, interspersed with higher and shorter peaks which surround picturesque Żwiec Lake. It’s not a surprise that the place is an ideal spot for windsurfers and sailors. A bit further, there is Babia Mountain – a peak famous for quick weather changes (it’s also called Diablak) and is located in Babia Góra National Park (placed on UNESCO list). Nearby, there is also Żar Hill – you can try paragliding there.

...and town…

And what about the town itself and the capital of the region? There are also lots of attractions. The most popular is The Old Castle and The Museum of Żywiec surrounded by a beautiful park. There’s also something for the younger – a mini zoo. Inside the Komorowski’s Castle you can see the museum exhibits and a torture chamber. All that shows how the bourgeois traditions got mixed with the highlander heritage.

…of many faces

Being around, why don’t you also visit the brewery? Indeed, as enotourist place we shouldn’t recommend ‘competition’ – yet, we don’t see why lowers of wine can’t be beer fans at the same time. Archduke Żywiec Brewery is an important point in the region and holds quite a few cyclical events, e.g. Birofilia. The brewery can be visited with a guide. To know the region better, you can also go to Ethnographic Park of Żywiec Land in Gilowice. Some interesting stops, while sightseeing the region, are the Old Inn in Jeleśnia and many landmarks of Wooden Architecture Rout in the Silesian province.

For sure you shouldn’t skip sacral objects. The local Marian Sanctuaries are exceptional not only for the picturesque location but also for their architecture. Beskids Mountain trails are also one of the ways to make pilgrimages.

As you can see there’s plenty to do in our region. Regardless of the seasons, you can enjoy your visit to this unique corner of Poland.

And after intense activities or sightseeing you are welcome to have a rest in our SPA zone.
